Teardrop Arch
The first time I saw this shot was about 30 years ago done by David Meunch and I've wanted to get it ever since. Well, I had a relatively good idea on how to get to it, but with some additional checking found that it is on private property and could only be reached with a Navajo guide...meaning I had to pay to get it! I really didn't have the money to spend on such a luxury, but I stopped by one of the tour booths in the valley just to check on access and the cost of this endeavor.
Then the haggling began and I kept saying as much as I wanted the shot I just didn't have the extra funds to pay for it. As my friend and I were about to leave, one of the guides came up to my truck and asked how much I thought it was worth and he would give me 1 1/2 hours up on the mesa. Obviously I gave in because my price was reasonable, and the conditions presenting themselves for the evening were just too perfect for me to ignore.
