Duck Arch
Honestly, I don't actually know the name of this arch, but it looks like a duck to me. Or maybe a goose? At any rate, of the 300+ arches which have been mapped here in the Alabama Hills, this is one of the few one can shoot through to frame Lone Pine Peak and Mt. Whitney. It's easy enough to climb up from the west side, but a bit precarious to get yourself and tripod positioned without falling off a large, sloping boulder on it's east side. The monsoon weather prevented a colorful sunset from this vantage point, but the changing layers of geology always make for an intriguing composition.
