Blue Moon Over the Bay
When going to the Bay Area to meet a friend I decided to take my chances on shooting the Golden Gate Bridge from Slacker Hill. Not too far, but a very steep climb and hard on these old legs, especially when I realized I then had to hike downhill for the shot and back up again to leave. Did I mention it was a very, very steep hill? The clouds were streaking overhead and a bank of fog was at my back threatening to overtake me and ruin my opportunity, but held off just long enough while I worked the scene. It’s always windy here, but even more so up on this hill and I was freezing even with a heavy jacket and gloves. I had to take extra care that the wind didn’t blow me or my gear down the hillside and used my backpack as an anchor. I had the blue moon of August, though obscured by the clouds I wanted to include it and therefore took multiple images to blend together for a pano. The bay was a bit misty, but a rare summer night to see the bridge and city without fog and I achieved all the elements I was looking for.
